Brazil Technology Network, in partnership with each State,
implements regional networks, aiming at substituting imports and
adding value to exports.
The
creation of local and state networks prioritises strategical sectors
in accordance to Federal Government’s policy directives. The definition
of these priorities must consider the multiplication of the results
throughout the productive chains, either through substitution
of imports or development of new goods and services with high
added value. Stimulus to technological development of the entrepreneurial
sector will be the focus, since its the sector that generates
jobs and income. Universities will play a fundamental role in
adding value to the productive chains.
Definition
of sectors must also consider the transversal relations between
production chains. They work in different markets, nevertheless
share some technologies. As an example, the chain that supplies
the petroleum sector also supplies the automotive, electric, metallurgy
and sanitation sectors
In
2003, Brazil Technology Network focused on Petroleum, Natural
Gas, Renewable Energies and Mining productive chains. The dynamism
of these sectors, high volume of investments, and the fact that
the majority of the chains is dominated by Brazilian Firms forced
this policy.
